Privacy Policy

Who we are

Website Identity: Our site is accessible at: https://routerdiy.com/.

User Comments

When users comment on our site, we gather the information shown in the comment form. Additionally, we collect the user’s IP address and the browser user agent string to aid in spam detection.

A coded version of your email address (known as a hash) might be sent to the Gravatar service to verify if you are a user. This service’s privacy policy is found at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile image becomes publicly visible alongside your comment.

Image Uploads

If you upload photos to our site, please ensure they do not contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Other site visitors can download and extract location data from images on the site.

Use of Cookies

Leaving a comment on our site gives you the option to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is for your convenience, so you don’t need to re-enter your details for future comments. These cookies are maintained for one year.

Visiting our login page sets a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie has no personal data and is removed when you close your browser.

Upon logging in, we set several cookies to record your login details and screen display choices. Login cookies are kept for two days, while screen option cookies are kept for a year. Selecting “Remember Me” keeps your login active for two weeks. Logging out removes these cookies.

Editing or publishing an article sets an additional cookie in your browser. This cookie, which includes no personal data, simply shows the post ID of the article you edited. It expires after one day.

Content Embedded from Other Sites

Our articles may feature embedded content (videos, images, articles, etc.). This content from other websites behaves just as it would if you visited those sites directly.

These sites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed extra third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with the embedded content. This includes tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that site.

Data Sharing

If you request a password reset, your IP address is included in the reset email.

Data Retention Duration

Comments and their metadata are retained indefinitely. This enables us to automatically recognize and approve follow-up comments instead of holding them for moderation.

For registered users (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Our site administrators can view and edit that information as well.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account or have left comments on our site, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided. You can also request the deletion of any personal data we have about you. This does not include data we are obligated to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Data Transmission

Visitor comments may be examined by an automated spam detection service.
